Class of 2019

Class Representative: Julie Ziegelman (julieziegelman@gmail.com)

Meeting: We meet the second Wed of each month at 5:30 pm in the library to plan GradKnight. This event is part of a nationally recognized alcohol and drug-free celebration designed to give high school graduates a safe place to celebrate their special night. It is planned for the evening of May 29th, 2019, following the graduation. We will not be able to move forward with planning this event if we do not get more volunteers.

We are late to the party in starting fundraising and planning the grad night party for our seniors. Most classes have 4 years of fundraising to raise the money to provide a substance-free, all-night graduation party and celebration called “GradKnight.” Our class is just starting now, so we are going to have to kick this thing into high gear immediately if we want to have a safe graduation party for our kids.

This event is part of a nationally recognized alcohol and drug-free celebration designed to give high school graduates a safe place to celebrate their special night. Additionally, the graduation for 2019 is on May 29th at 7:00 pm. In the recent past, all graduations were in the morning, and I think it’s even more important than ever to have a planned safe event.

We need at least $22,000 to run this event (which is totally doable as all the other classes before ours have done it)!

We need your help. Here is how:

  1. Donate: There are approximately 364 students in our class. I know it’s not possible for everyone to give, but if you give $25 a month for the rest of the year, it would help move us forward to our goal. Here is the link to donate. If you want to make a one-time donation, that is awesome, but if you would like to donate monthly, make sure to check the “Make this a monthly donation.” If 300 families can give $10 a month, we can raise $24,000 and give some prizes away at the event.    CLICK HERE TO GO THE DONATION PAGE – The other positive about picking this option is I can put all my effort into planning an awesome party instead of spending all the time fundraising and sending letters to you weekly.

  2. Sign up to be on the board.

  3. Use SmileAmazon to donate to our cause everytime you shop on Amazon.

  4. Interested in running a fundraiser. Choices include: Mattress Sale, Savers Clothing Donations, La Mancha Party and Silent Auction, Kona Ice, Hot Dogs at Fry’s

  5. Help write grant letters.

  6. Work for a large company in Austin? Ask them if they would like to donate to a safe night for our kids.

  7. Have a rich aunt that wants to underwrite the whole shindig? Spectacular!

  8. An idea I haven’t come up with yet!

I believe we can make this happen and hope you do too!
